For a guy still in his mid 20’s Wade MaVv has lived a very full life. On any given day you may come across a different side of this multifaceted singer from San Pedro, CA. Some days you might see the strictness of a former military Spec Ops Navy Deep Sea Diver and other days you might meet a carefree artist searching for enlightenment. You might come across a troublemaker who was kicked out of 6 different high schools, went to 15 disciplinary review boards in the Navy, and started a group sponsored by a national strip club chain, or meet the business major in college who finished top in his military training, started his own companies, and funded all of his musical and business endeavors without a penny of financial help from his family. Whatever side of Wade MaVv you run into, one thing remains consistent about him. He is one of the most persuasive, driven, and charismatic people in the independent music business. “No,” is rarely an answer to anything he wants from you, but somehow you won’t mind giving him what he asks for. Wade feels like sometimes people think he has everything figured out, but the energetic lead singer is the first one to admit that his success comes from fighting through major life altering failures, and not a deeper understanding of the world.
Wade MaVv began playing guitar at age 11 and by 14 was a sought after guitar player in his hometown. He soon joined the punk rock band Brimful and over the next 4 years began singing and picking up other instruments. During the turmoil of his high school years Wade sang, played guitar, bass, and drums for several different bands, which didn’t allow him much time for school and eventually prompted him to drop out and pursue music full time. Being in and out of trouble, sober from drugs and alcohol due to abuse at only 16, and being a part of a family that virtually didn’t exist most of his life doesn’t bother Wade MaVv anymore. He states that his only real regret in life was allowing the punk and metal scene to stifle his musical tastes for so many years. He still loves a good mosh pit, but these days you can find Wade analyzing and listening to every type of artist, including pop stars like Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and literally every other artist in the pop genre. In addition to his weekly study of the pop charts, Wade has studied the history of African American music, classical, big band, country, blues, rock n roll, and even recorded a Frank Sinatra song as his secret track on one of KiLR’s first albums.
Probably Wade’s most notable skill is his networking ability. He doesn’t just gain attention from world famous producers, directors, attorneys, venues, and agents. Through unrelenting persistence Wade has convinced many of these pros to invest major effort into his project, many times with little or no budget. The overly hyper Wade MaVv says one of the most difficult parts of this process has been trying to be patient and allow the group to mature to a level where they can run with any major successes. If you’re looking for the an artist who does things bigger, better, and differently than every other artist in Los Angeles, look no further. His name is Wade MaVv.
